How we started
The Exchange started over email and Muxtape among friends in 2008, inspired by Khoi Vinh's Out of 5. The rules were light: one theme, one song, one commitment to listen.
Each round starts with a theme. Everyone brings one song.
The playlist takes shape through people, and the theme leaves room for taste, memory, argument, and surprise.
Listening closely makes it an exchange.
